Successful installation of external wall insulation and a coloured render finish to this home IN Manchester.
Project Description
The client reached out for lime rendering services after an extension was added to an existing traditional farmhouse in Manchester. They contacted a member of the Manchester Rendering Network following subpar work from a previous contractor. The client needed the project to be assessed and corrected before the second coat of render could be applied over the existing scratch coat to complete the previously started work.
Upon evaluation, several issues and challenges were identified. The primary challenge was building upon the substandard work already done. Our team consulted with the client to ensure realistic expectations and outcomes. Any potential issues that could lead to future or ongoing problems were addressed at this stage. The client agreed to the proposed solutions, and it was decided that the existing work would be rectified before continuing with the rendering.
The project began by removing and correcting the beading that had been applied below the damp course, which, if left unaddressed, would have led to moisture problems inside the building. Next, some of the corner beads were adjusted to ensure plumb lines were created and to achieve the desired aesthetic. We also corrected several external beads around the bifold windows, as they were misaligned, causing an uneven appearance in the bifold reveal. Once the existing work was rectified and properly prepared, a topcoat of lime render was applied, providing a smooth and durable finish.
The choice of lime render allowed the house to maintain its traditional character while integrating the newly extended living space. The client required a quick turnaround, and the job was completed within a week.
